Colter Shaw got more answers than he bargained for in Tracker season 2. With some of those reveals that came in the second season, we need to look ahead at what this means for him in Tracker season 3.
The second season finally brought Colter some answers that he needed. He learned that his dad didn’t take his own life and was definitely murdered. Russell didn’t kill Ashton, and instead, his mom seems to be connected. This is sure to set up for some major storylines, especially as Colter has been the one listening to his mom for all this time.

Colter will need to figure out his mom’s involvement in his dad’s death in Tracker season 3
One thing is for certain, Colter seems to have more questions than answers in to start off Tracker season 3. From the beginning of the series, Mary Shaw made it clear that Colter shouldn’t speak to his brother, Russell, implicating him in Ashton’s death. Is it actually the case she thought Russell saw something that night, and that she wanted to keep her own involvement a secret?
Colter has learned that Otto killed Ashton, and he said that he did it because Mary asked for help. So, what did Mary need help with? Was she trying to escape Ashton, or was she just worried about Ashton’s mental health. It’s possible that she didn’t mean for Otto to kill him, but that something happened that night that led to it having to happen.
There are still questions about Ashton’s research and the government involvement that seems to be the case. Then there’s the fact that it seemed like Ashton was having an affair. So, there’s a lot that Colter still needs to uncover.

Colter will need to continue doing what he does best in Tracker
While he’s getting all of these answers, he’s going to keep finding people. That is his job, and he makes money off the rewards. However, he doesn’t always do things because there is a reward involved. Look at the way he has stepped up for friends, so I’m sure we’ll see something happen again in Tracker season 3.
I would like to see Colter spend some time with Velma, who has been heavily underused in season 2. We need to learn more about how they ended up working together, and maybe Velma could get some of the answers that he desperately needs about his family.
Tracker will return on Sundays at 8/7c on CBS in fall 2025.
