What could have been next for Ray in FBI: Most Wanted season 7?

If FBI: Most Wanted season 7 had happened, what could we have seen for Ray Cannon?
“The Circle Game” - The Fugitive Task Force hunts down a rogue government operative group that is planning a domestic terror attack. Also, the team prepares for big changes, on the series finale of FBI: MOST WANTED, Tuesday, May 20 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). FBI: Most Wanted was able to bring happiness and hope as closure for each of the characters at the end of the series finale. There was just enough time to rework the finale and make sure it was a good series ender. But what if it wasn’t canceled? What could have been for Ray if FBI: Most Wanted season 7 happened?

We know that the series wouldn’t have ended exactly the way it did. Remy wouldn’t have retired, and Barnes wouldn’t have taken over as the leader. However, it looked like Ray was going to stick around.

Ray and Cora could have still had a baby in FBI: Most Wanted season 7

Ray has stepped up great as a stepfather to Caleb, but the ending of FBI: Most Wanted season 6 saw him announce that Cora is having a baby. This could have still happened even if the series continued, and it would have been a great continued personal storyline for Ray.

We’ve seen what it’s like being a mom via Barnes and Nina, but not what it’s like as a dad. There would have been conversations with Cora about the nature of his job. Sure, those conversations would have had to happen for Caleb, but it’s different when it comes to a newborn.

Ray’s dad stepped up as a step-grandfather as well, but could the dynamic have changed with Ray’s own biological child? This is something that we see, and while I don’t think Ray Sr. would have intentionally left Caleb out, it could have been done accidentally. So, we could have seen that play out in FBI: Most Wanted season 7.

Ray would have continued being an agent in FBI: Most Wanted

It’s clear that Ray wasn’t looking at leaving the job by the end of the season. We would have continued to see him as a strong agent, fighting for justice and to keep the streets safe.

However, I would have liked to see more use of him throughout the series. He was underused in the final season especially, with just a small look at his personal life now and then. FBI: Most Wanted season 7 would need to fix that.

If the series wasn’t canceled, we would have seen the sixth season end with an inmate escaping, and that would have meant a huge case to figure out to start FBI: Most Wanted season 7. This could have given Ray a chance to shine, even potentially going undercover to get the answers needed.

FBI: Most Wanted is available to stream on Paramount+.
