Wednesday nights are supposed to be about the One Chicago franchise, but there’s some bad news tonight, Wednesday, March 19. Not only is there not a new episode of Chicago PD, but we won’t even get a rerun of an episode tonight.
After bringing us the three-way crossover event from earlier this year last week, NBC is bringing something completely different this week. We’re getting the live ceremony to celebrate 100 years at the Opry. This is a fun night for the country music fans out there.
Why is NBC putting the One Chicago shows on a break
If you want to watch an older episode of Chicago PD, then you’ll need to turn to Peacock tonight. While this break seems disappointing right now, it is going to be a good thing on the other side of it. Bringing a break now means that fewer breaks in April.
NBC needs to take these breaks in the schedule to make sure there are enough episodes to air in May. This is one of the big months for the linear rating collection, and it’s when finales traditionally air. At the same time, the break allows for filming to continue to get ahead of the episodes that are airing.
When will Chicago PD return, and what can we expect?
There is some good news about the break, though. It’s almost over. As NBC promised us with the promo for the next episode, Chicago PD will return with new episodes on Wednesday, March 26.
When the series returns, we’ll get a Burgess-centric episode. She visits a diner regularly, and she realizes that regulars from the diner are victims. Now she needs to figure out why this has happened and who could have done it. Ruzek has her back and is ready to support her in any way she needs, which means we’re more excited about the upcoming wedding.
