There are no more Chicago PD episodes in 2025 (but we know when the series will return)

While the Chicago PD season 13 fall finale is earlier than we’d like, it’s where we’re at. There are no more new episodes of the crime drama to air in 2025.

The scheduling has felt a little weird this year. We had to wait until October for Chicago PD to get started, and now the series has gone off a week earlier than we would have usually expected. That did lead to concerns that we would have to wait a long time for the show’s return, especially with the Winter Olympics airing on NBC in February 2026.

Well, there is some good news. We have a midseason return date, and it’s normal.

Chicago PD season 13 will return in January 2026

We’re used to early January return dates for NBC, and there is some great news just as we get into the winter hiatus. Chicago PD season 13 will return with new episodes on Wednesday, Jan. 7. As usual, it will be part of the One Chicago block, with episodes airing at 10/9c.

And yes, the episodes will still head to Peacock the following day. So, from Thursday, Jan. 8, new episodes will be added to the streamer once more.

There is a promo for Chicago PD season 13 episode 8, and while it doesn’t tease a lot, it picks up off the back of the cliffhanger from the fall finale:

Expect another break in February 2026

While the show is back in January, it’s likely only to be back for a month before going on another break. The NBC midseason schedule has been released, and it makes it clear that February is all about sports, with the Winter Olympics taking over from Friday, Feb. 6, until the closing ceremonies on Sunday, Feb. 22.

This would suggest that all regular broadcast programming is going off the air at this time, but the schedule wasn’t all that clear. So, for now, we’re expecting a break in February and then the show to return on Wednesday, Feb. 25.

With a break like this, it could mean that we have fewer one-week breaks once the series does return. Between January and May, we’re used to an on-off schedule that gets annoying and difficult to follow. By opting for a longer break due to the Olympic coverage it helps to space out the episodes better.

Chicago PD season 13 returns on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10/9c on NBC.
