There is some bad news for Elsbeth fans tonight, Thursday, April 17. There will not be a new episode of the series on.

Don’t worry; the show hasn’t come to an end just yet. While we are starting finale season on CBS, it’s not time for Elsbeth to stop solving cases. However, her break is linked to another show airing its two-hour season finale!

Why isn’t Elsbeth new tonight, Thursday, April 17?

Matlock’s first season will come to an end tonight, and it’s doing it in style with a two-hour episode. That means it has to take up the 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot as well as the usual timeslot, and that pushes Elsbeth off for a week. This isn’t a terrible thing, though. We know that Kathy Bates’s new series is a worthwhile watch, and you’ve been tuning into it each week, haven’t you?

In some good news, Elsbeth will move forward to the earlier timeslot for the next few weeks once it does return. As much as changing timeslots can be bad for a show once we’re used to when it airs, this is going to be a good one. The 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot is always a much stronger one, so we could see the Elsbeth linear ratings tick up for a couple of weeks.

And yes, there is more Elsbeth to come. The second season finale won’t air until Thursday, May 8.

When will Elsbeth return with new episodes?

So, how long do we need to wait for a new episode of the series? Not long at all. The show will be back next Thursday, April 24. Just keep in mind that it will be an hour earlier than normal in the Matlock timeslot.

Judge Milton Crawford is back in the episode titled “I Know What You Did Three Summers Ago.” He’s getting closer and closer to becoming a federal judge, and Elsbeth knows that will mean trouble if he makes it there. So, she needs to find something in his past that proves he’s a murderer. Only, the more she digs, the more she puts everyone in danger.

Elsbeth is back with new episodes on Thursday, April 24 at 9/8c on CBS, and we have three episodes left in the season.
