The New York Field Office doesn’t have a new case to work on FBI tonight, Tuesday, March 25. The series is on a short break, and we now know how long that break will be.
While there isn’t a new episode of the series on tonight, there is a rerun. It’s only the flagship series that is getting a rerun. After that, CBS is encouraging you to watch reruns of Watson, the new freshman drama that is still on the bubble. I say it’s worth the watch, but I really want to see this series survive.
Why isn’t FBI new tonight?
CBS is at that point in the TV schedule when the odd break is needed. There are only a set number of episodes to fit into the full nine months of programming. To get episodes to May finale week, CBS needs to put reruns on now and then. This is one of those weeks.
The good news is that there is a rerun. Some weeks, we’ve seen specials on instead, or we’re seeing other shows get reruns as a boost for their views.
When will FBI season 7 return with new episodes?
There isn’t too long to wait for new episodes of the series. FBI and the entire franchise will be back on Tuesday, April 1. No, it’s not an April Fools prank. There will be a new episode, and we have a promo for the episode. It shows Maggie in danger when she and OA go on a mission to help undercover FBI agents who don't know their cover has been compromised.
Don’t worry too much about the break. It’s not going to affect the future of this series, which will get an eighth season. Last year, CBS confirmed three seasons of FBI, making it clear that this remains one of the most popular shows on the network.
Eyes will now be on the new planned spin-off series. There were original intentions of airing a backdoor pilot during FBI season 7, but that’s no longer happening. Instead, CBS is eyeing a straight-to-series order, which could work out better for the show, but it means that it’s untested.
FBI is available to stream on Paramount+.
