It’s that time of year, when TV shows start taking their winter breaks. So, it shouldn’t be too surprising to learn that Murder in a Small Town isn’t new tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 9.
The procedural crime drama isn’t back tonight, but that’s not where the bad news ends. This hot Canadian-U.S. drama is certainly going to be missed, and we have a wait on our hands — a wait that’s not even guaranteed to be over.
Why isn’t Murder in a Small Town new tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 9?
What’s the deal tonight? Well, the previous episode was the Murder in a Small Town season 2 finale. It ended on a mixed note, with Karl asking Cassandra to marry him, which was the way we’ve been hoping the season would end.
However, Cassandra didn’t have the most thrilled response to that question. Most women in love would happily accept, but Cassandra held back, and now we need to know why. We just have to wait until Murder in a Small Town season 3 to find out the answers. And this is where we have some more bad news.
Murder In a Small Town season 3 isn’t confirmed (yet)
We always prefer to know if a show is renewed before it gets to a season finale. The downside of a shorter season order, which Murder in a Small Town has, is that the finale usually arrives way before the networks are even considering renewals. While showrunner Ian Weir is optimistic about the show’s future, the fact that it is a Canadian series does lead to some issues for FOX. You see, it doesn’t really matter what FOX thinks if Global TV isn’t interested in renewing it.
So, it leaves us with questions about the future of the show. We’re probably not going to find out until the new year as to whether the show has been renewed or not.
If it is renewed, then we could see Murder in a Small Town land a fall slot again. This will depend on the success of a few FOX shows on the midseason this year. After all, the success of Doc in the midseason in the 2024–2025 season led to it getting a fall 2025 timeslot. This could then move the schedules around, pushing Murder in a Small Town to the midseason.
Let’s not dwell on that for now. We need to wait for a renewal, so make sure you’re watching on Hulu and on the Global TV App in Canada to make it clear that you want more!
