There isn't a new episode of SWAT on tonight, Friday, Jan. 10 (Is there a rerun?)

We start of this post with some bad news. There isn’t a new episode of SWAT season 8 on tonight, Friday, Jan. 10.

While a lot of shows are making their midseason returns, CBS continues to hold off for a little while. This is going to be a good thing once the shows are back, but it feels like a bad thing right now. While we wait for new episode, though, there is some good news. We will at least get reruns on Fridays.

What is the rerun of SWAT on tonight, Friday, Jan. 10?

We’ll get a rerun of SWAT season 8, episode 2. Titled “Gang Unit,” Hondo and the team need to deal with a rise of home robberies happening across Los Angeles. It’s clear that these robberies are all connected, and that leads to Hondo’s team needing to work with another unit to get to the bottom of it.

It’s always interesting watching 20-Squad working with other units. Sometimes, they do work as a team. They have people they can lean on and support. Then there are times that we see too much competition as the different squads prove that they are the best ones. Of course, a little bit of competition is healthy, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of the people.

Keep in mind that the rerun isn’t on at the earlier time. The reruns are now moving to the 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot to get us ready for show airing in this timeslot. Fridays will start with reruns of NCIS: Sydney season 1.

When will SWAT season 8 return with new episodes

We’re getting much closer to the return of the series. SWAT will be back on Friday, Jan. 31.

This is a good thing in the end. Something to keep in mind is that there are more weeks until May than there are episodes available. This usually means that we end up with an on-off schedule between January and May to break up the season. With a later return in January, there are fewer weeks to cover, which helps with better consistency when it comes to episodes.

We’re expecting a full 22-episode season of SWAT this year, which will take us into the start of May without a break. Considering CBS usually puts finales on around the middle of May, we’re expecting just one break in the season now compared to two or three.

SWAT airs on Fridays at 10/9c on CBS. Get ready for new episodes on Friday, Jan. 31.
