Is a new episode of The Equalizer on tonight? (April 6, 2025)

it won't be long before The Equalizer season 5 finale airs, so what's going on with the CBS schedule tonight, Sunday, April 6?

Eyes are on the Sunday schedule, as we know that it’s coming to a close soon. There’s only one more full month of new episodes of The Equalizer season 5.

Well, it turns out that we won’t get a full month. April is starting off with some bad news, with no new episode of The Equalizer on tonight, Sunday, April 6. There isn’t even a rerun on tonight, so you’ll want to turn to Paramount+ to catch up on the latest episodes.

Why isn’t a new episode of The Equalizer on tonight?

The lack of new episode is likely two-fold, with the biggest reason being that CBS is putting on a special. An Evening with Elton John and Brandi Carlile will take over the first half of the night, leaving just 90 minutes for programming. Instead of a rerun of The Equalizer to end the night, we’re getting a rerun of Watson.

This isn’t great news for The Equalizer fans. The show is one of two that remains on the bubble, and while we know there are negotiations for a sixth and final season, it’s looking more and more likely that the series will be canceled. The season 5 finale is set up in a way that will work as a series finale if needed, but that doesn’t mean we’re happy about it.

The Equalizer season 5 finale isn’t even that far away, and this comes to the second reason for the break. There are more weeks than episodes available, and CBS needs to schedule breaks in here and there. This is the last break on Sundays, though.

When will The Equalizer return with new episodes?

In some good news, The Equalizer will return on Sunday, April 13. This is just a one-week break, and we already know a little of what to expect when the series returns.

The topic of catfishing comes up in the new case, when the team suspect that Aunt Vi’s friend is a victim. The team will need to work alone, as Robyn has decided that it’s time for some mother-daughter time, and I love when TV shows offer us this. We don’t get to see enough of Robyn and Delilah spending time together, but can they do it without trouble finding them?

The Equalizer airs on Sundays at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up on Paramount+ and Tubi.
