There's a lot of disappointing news about new episodes of FBI: Most Wanted tonight (May 27)

Tuesday nights are supposed to be FBI Night, but that’s not happening this week. Not only have we not had new episodes of FBI or FBI: International, but we also won’t have a new episode of FBI: Most Wanted tonight, Tuesday, May 27.

That isn’t all that surprising when you consider the time or year or what the previous episode was. Of course, it doesn’t make it easier, especially when we get into the far more terrible news.

“Moving On” – The Fugitive Task Force investigates a series of deadly fires involving the descendants of those who caused the infamous 1985 MOVE bombing in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Nina’s sister turns to her in a time of need, on FBI: MOST WANTED, Tuesday, Jan. 28 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*.

Why isn’t there a new episode of FBI: Most Wanted tonight?

Let’s get into the reason for tonight’s lack of episode. Well, the previous episode, which aired on Tuesday, May 20, was the FBI: Most Wanted series finale. This would have been the season 6 finale, but CBS canceled the show.

The middle to the end of May is the usual time for finales to air. The broadcast networks don’t want to air big shows in the summer due to the dip in the linear ratings. People want to go away or spend their evenings outside with friends rather than being stuck watching TV shows.

This is also time for cast and crew to film new seasons. Writers rooms tend to open in May or June, and then filming tends to start in July ready for September premieres. It ensures there are a few episodes in the bank, but also that the cast and crew get some time off as filming ends in April of each regular TV season.

There are no more new episodes of FBI: Most Wanted

Of course, we usually just have to wait for shows to return this time of year, but there’s some devastating news about FBI: Most Wanted. As mentioned, the season 6 finale became the series finale. FBI: Most Wanted season 7 isn’t happening, as CBS decided to cancel the show.

The network gave a disappointing reasons, as well. It all came down to money. As the show was dipping in the linear ratings, it proved not to be as financially viable as other shows on the network, and so it was canceled.

Sadly, FBI: Most Wanted isn’t being shopped around, and while we would love to see the story continue, it means it can’t. NBC, Prime Video, and Peacock could all make great homes, but they won’t even get a chance to say yes. At least FBI: Most Wanted brought some closure to characters, and it’s almost like the writers had a feeling that this season could be the last.
