I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news for the Sheriff Country and Boston Blue fans looking to enjoy a new episode of their favorite Friday night crime dramas on March 20. CBS’s hit Friday night crime dramas are both off the schedule for the night, as CBS will be turning over its primetime lineup to March Madness.
That’s right, on March 20, CBS will be bringing fans a double-header of March Madness coverage, which kicks off at 7 p.m. ET. The night will begin with coverage of the Northern Iowa Panthers vs. St. John's Red Storm game and will then continue at 9:30 p.m. ET with coverage of the California Baptist Lancers vs. Kansas Jayhawks game.
With March Madness taking over CBS’s primetime block, Sheriff Country and Boston Blue are both off the schedule this week. And sadly, that’s not even the worst of this news.
CBS’s March Madness coverage will continue next Friday night as well, which means that Sheriff Country and Boston Blue will remain off the schedule through the rest of March. You sadly read that correctly; CBS has sent its Friday night shows on a two-week break, with the episodes off the air for the final weeks of March thanks to basketball.

Boston Blue and Sheriff Country will return on April 3
The bad news is that CBS will be keeping Sheriff Country and Boston Blue off the schedule through the rest of March, but thankfully the shows will return as April begins! Both Sheriff Country and Boston Blue will be returning to CBS’s schedule the first Friday of April, with fresh episodes coming fans’ way on April 3.
After making fans wait for new episodes, CBS will make it up to the viewers with a pair of exciting episodes for both series when they return.
Kicking off the night on April 3 will be Sheriff Country, which will open the night with the first of a two-part crossover event with Fire Country. In the franchise’s first official crossover, Mickey and Sharon will have to bring their teams together after a mysterious school bus explosion leaves nine students missing. The pair will have to put personal conflicts aside to find the missing students before its too late.
It’s going to be a can’t-miss pair of episodes uniting the casts of Sheriff Country and Fire Country for the first time in an official crossover event, and we’re certain there will be plenty of action across the two hours.
The night will then conclude with a new episode of Boston Blue, which will welcome back a beloved member of the Blue Bloods family! Len Cariou will make his first appearance on the Blue Bloods spinoff, reprising his role as Henry Reagan in the episode, which is sure to be a treat for fans. While we don’t know much about what brings Henry to Boston, it’s going to be amazing getting to see him back on-screen alongside Donnie Wahlberg and to get to see him share the screen with Mika Amonsen for the first time since he took over the role of Sean Reagan!
