It’s started to become a thing where the streaming services surprise us with early releases of shows. That’s happened with Paradise, which dropped its first episode two days early.
If you were shocked to see series premiere breakdown coverage and spoilers on Sunday, Jan. 26, you will not be alone. Many were surprised to learn that the first episode of the new Sterling K. Brown series had been released two days earlier than expected. Hulu gave no warning about this—not even to the press who received screeners!
How many episodes are in Paradise season 1?
It was only the first episode to be released early. There are eight episodes in the season in total, and the rest of them are set to be released in the originally intended way.
To be honest, a surprise drop doesn’t always make sense. And I don’t think it did here. While the series is highly anticipated, the drop came on the day of two major NFL games—the NFC and AFC Championship games. After the AFC game, CBS aired its new series Watson.
Having a planned drop against all of this is one thing. A surprise drop could lead to some annoyed fans when publications start to reveal spoilers.
Paradise release schedule: Here’s when new episodes will be released
The original release was going to be three episodes on Tuesday, Jan. 28. There is still the plan to bring us the next two episodes of the season. After that, the episodes will be released weekly on Tuesdays. This hybrid model has become pretty standard for Hulu shows.
Here’s the release schedule:
Tuesday, Jan. 28: Episodes 2 & 3
Tuesday, Feb. 4: Episode 4
Tuesday, Feb. 11: Episode 5
Tuesday, Feb. 18: Episode 6
Tuesday, Feb. 25: Episode 7
Tuesday, March 4: Episode 8
There is still the plan to air the series premiere on linear networks. Viewers can tune in on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 10/9c on ABC. If you miss that date, you can tune in on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10/9c on FX. The rest of the season will be exclusive to Hulu.
Paradise airs on Tuesdays on Hulu.
