Accused Season 2 won't premiere in September 2024 (but we're getting closer to it)

In some bad news, we won't get to watch the second season of Accused in September 2024. In some good news, we don't have to wait too much longer to see the first of the next set of stories.

After waiting more than a year for the second season of Accused, we had hoped to see the new season arrive in September 2024. After all, that’s when the fall season traditionally starts for the broadcast networks. That sadly isn’t happening.

Fox has opted for a mixture of September and October premiere dates. Some of this will be linked to filming schedules, but some of it will be linked to the episode counts in the seasons. We’re expecting a show like Accused to have fewer episodes than a show like 911: Lone Star for example.

The good news is there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We know when Accused Season 2 will premiere.

Accused Season 2 premiere date on Fox

Fox originally set the return date as Tuesday, Oct. 1, but there is a little bit of bad news. That return has been pre-empted due to the Vice Presidential Debate.

Accused Season 2 will now premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The episode will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT with a new episode of Murder in a Small Town arriving in the hour slot afterward. Yes, it’s a night of crime dramas on Fox on Tuesdays.

Two returning cast members for Accused Season 2

There have been a few casting announcements for the season so far. Two of them have been interesting as they involve actors who were in the first season of the series. Michael Chiklis and Matthew James Thomas will return for separate episodes.

This wouldn’t usually be all that surprising, but Accused is an anthology series. Each episode is a standalone story, and there have been no returning characters as of yet. It looks like the series is choosing to do what American Horror Story did in giving actors new roles for new stories.

The series will continue to give us a look at stories through a slightly different lens compared to other crime dramas. Instead of watching the a murder investigation play out or see if someone can get away with a crime, this series puts us into a courtroom. We know who is on trial, but we don’t know what they’ve done. We see how the story played out in the past, and then we get to see what the jury decides to do in the end based on the evidence heard.

This is a series that certainly gets you to check your bias.
