Accused Season 2 premiere preempted due to Vice Presidential debate

When the Vice President hopefuls debate in an election year, you just know that every single network is going to preempt shows. It means the Accused Season 2 premiere is being pushed back a week.

While broadcast networks have set their premiere dates, nothing is ever set in stone. A lot can affect the return dates, and that includes politics. Due to the Vice Presidential debate, the Accused Season 2 premiere is going to be delayed by a week.

Accused was quickly renewed for a second season in 2023, but it didn’t land a spot in the 2023-2024 TV schedule. That was partly due to the strike action throughout the summer, and Fox pushed the return back to fall 2024.

When will Accused Season 2 now premiere?

The series was originally set to premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 1. However, it will now be pushed back. The Vice Presidential debate is happening on that night, and all broadcast networks will want to air it. After all, not only does it bring in the views, but it’s an important moment in the year.

So, the Accused Season 2 premiere is going to be pushed back by a week. That means it will air on Tuesday, Oct. 8. It will still air at 8 p.m. ET/PT as planned.

Murder in a Small Town is still set to premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 24 but will then likely take the next Tuesday off. This will depend on the length of the debate and any news coverage afterward.

More cast added to Accused Season 2

More cast members have been added to the second season of the series, with one of them being a returning cast member from the first season, according to Deadline. Michael Chiklis has been the only confirmed returning member up to this point, but now we know Matthew James Thomas will be back. Thomas will play a different role.

Debra Winger, Mercedes Ruehl, and Christine Ebersole will join the cast for an episode. All four are going to be in “Margot’s Story,” with Winger playing Margo. Ruehl will play Connie; Ebersole will play Deb; and Thomas will play Alexei. The episode will follow a woman who ends up on trial after a relationship with her ballroom dance instructor goes too far.

Murder? It would seem so, but this show knows how to change things up and leave us guessing.
