All three FBI shows renewed (one for three seasons!)

CBS has handed out renewals to all three FBI shows. One of them has a three-season renewal order.

“Unforeseen” – After multiple people are targeted and killed with a poisonous gas in broad daylight, the team races to find the killer, who they believe is tied to an eco-terrorist plot. Meanwhile, Maggie continues to explore motherhood, on FBI, Tuesday, March 26 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). It’s gereat news for FBI fans. All three shows have been renewed.

TVLine shared the exciting news, including the fact that the flagship series has been renewed for three seasons. The other two, FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted, have been renewed for one season each. It means we’re guaranteed more of the Missy Peregrym series until the 2026–2027 TV season!

The renewals are certainly not surprising. All three shows have had successful runs on Tuesday nights. The only thing I’m disappointed about is that all three didn’t get three-season renewals.

Why are FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted only renewed for one season each?

The renewal decision is interesting. While FBI will run through to Season 9 at the very least, we’re only guaranteed one more year of the other two Tuesday shows. Is this a bad sign for the future of the shows?

I think this comes down to the linear numbers more than anything else. FBI continues to bring in the viewers on a Tuesday. It is the No. 1 show on Tuesdays across all networks. It’s also the third most-watched show across the board, only behind Tracker and NCIS when the Live+7 ratings are taken into account.

In the on-the-day ratings, it is fourth in the demo and second in the audience on CBS alone. The only show ahead of it in the audience is Young Sheldon, which is ending after seven seasons this year.

What about the other two shows? They are still performing well but not as well. FBI: International is 10th in the demo, while FBI: Most Wanted is 14th. International is seventh in the audience and Most Wanted is 13th. These are on the same day ratings according to TV Series Finale.

These are still respectable spots, but CBS knows that things can change quickly year after year. This year hasn’t been the best judge either as shows started late and they’ve been hit with a few breaks in the schedule here and there. So, a one-season renewal is better than nothing at all.

It does mean fans need to tune in to keep the shows on the air. At least there is one FBI show we don’t need to worry too much about.

Our new crime drama renewal/canceled scorecard has been updated.

The FBIs air Tuesdays on CBS.
