Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance producing new cop drama

Bassett Vance Productions will hopefully bring a new cop drama to our screens. Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance are teaming up for a new cop drama, titled Keats.

This is currently in production with NBC and Universal TV. It’s not picked up to series just yet and looks to be in the pilot stage. With Bassett and Vance behind it, it’s sure to be fire.

What is Keats about?

Keats will follow Alex Keats, a fourth-generation police office who walks away from her badge and family, Deadline reports. After the death of her mother, she has to head back to Philadelphia to bury her, learning that her mother supposedly died by suicide. Of course, Alex doesn’t really believe that.

Alex goes on a mission to figure out what really happened to her mother. As she does that, she realizes that she probably shouldn’t have turned her back on everything after all.

It’s all about the pilot first for Keats

Eyes will be on about this new series. Right now, it needs to get to the pilot stage, and then it will need to be picked up to series.

The world of TV has changed considerably in the last few years. Pilot season has changed, with broadcast networks not just looking at the upcoming season. We’ve seen CBS look at bringing shows to the 2025–2026 season already, while last year, Fox pushed a couple of shows to the 2024–2025 season instead of bringing them back last season.

Even NBC looks to be setting some things up for the 2025–2026 season. It’s ordered Grosse Pointe Garden Society and Suits LA to series, but hasn’t confirmed which TV season the two shows will arrive. Is it possible that it’s looking at Keats for the next season or is planning ahead for another year?

It’s not clear just yet, but the timing on this looks like we could see Keats in the 2025–2026 season if it is picked up.
