It was great news at the end of 2023 when we learned Based on a True Story Season 2 was happening. This renewal came after the writers strike came to an end, and it wasn’t long after that the actors strike ended. That meant the season didn’t have to be too delayed.

The question always was whether there would be time to finish everything in time for a 2024 release date. It was tight, but it sounds like it is happening.

Based on a True Story Season 2 release year

TVLine reports that the second season of the Kaley Cuoco-led dramedy should arrive on Peacock sometime this year. Peacock doesn’t release too many dates at once, and the new of the releases usually happen a month or so before the date.

With that in mind, we’re not looking at a September 2024 release date. To be honest, it wouldn’t make a lot of sense for Peacock to go up against the broadcast releases. A lot of attention is going to be on NBC in September. It would make more sense to hold until November. Streaming services aren’t as heavily affected by the holiday season, allowing for later releases while broadcast shows take another break.

What to expect in Based on a True Story Season 2

TVLine also reported that the season would pick up a few months after the end of the first season. That means the baby has arrived!

The first season also ended with the reveal that Ruby’s body was in the trunk. Didn’t Ava and Nathan bury Ruby’s body? Well yes, but it looks like Matt is not happy that others cleaned up his mess. This was after Ava and Nathan told Matt to clean up his mess. Matt completely manipulated Ava and Nathan, and it’s clear that he is still up for doing that.

Matt had promised not to kill again, and yet he did it twice in the first season. There’s only so long he can get away with it in Season 2, right? Surely we need to see him captured. There’s sure to be some suspicion thrown on Ava and Nathan first, though.
