Why isn't Blue Bloods back tonight? (March 29)

We continue our wait for new episodes of Blue Bloods. The series remains on a break tonight, Friday, March 29.

This break isn’t all that surprising or unusual. It’s nothing to do with CBS messing around our viewing for the final season. Instead, it’s all due to March Madness. The NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament continues, and CBS airs the games live. CBS can’t put on two things at the same time, and March Madness is a huge annual event.

It’s also Good Friday tonight. There is a good chance that the series would have been off anyway, as CBS could have feared the linear ratings going down. However, as a Catholic family, it would have been good for the Reagans to have an episode on Good Friday.

When will Blue Bloods return with new episodes?

The Friday night lineup is returning on Friday, April 5. This includes Blue Bloods, which will air the fifth episode of the season.

There is sure to be another break coming up, though. There are only 10 episodes to air in the 2023–2024 season. The remaining eight episodes of the final season will premiere in fall 2024. The Direct suggests that there is a week off in April, which will allow for the finale of Season 14A to air on Friday, May 17.

As of right now, we don’t have details of the new episode. The promo is sure to drop tonight, as long as CBS sticks to the plan of bringing back all three Friday night dramas next week. We usually see the promos released a week new episodes during the breaks.

It’s hard to say what to expect. A lot is going on, and with this being the final season, we need to see storylines come to a conclusive ending. We also have so many past characters we would love to see return.
