Could CBS bring us an NCIS Mondays lineup in fall 2024?

As we get closer to the end of another TV season, we look ahead at the next fall. Could we get NCIS Mondays on CBS?

“Stranger in a Strange Land” – NCIS works to solve the murder of a Marine private who appears to have been killed for helping an Afghan refugee. Also, Jimmy navigates the pressure of parenting his teenage daughter, who is eager to go out on an unchaperoned group date, on the CBS Original series NCIS, Monday, March 20 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*. Eyes are on the 2024–2025 lineup for TV shows. With the recent renewal of NCIS, eyes are on whether CBS could opt for another franchise night in the schedule. Are NCIS Mondays possible?

As of writing this, we are still waiting on news about NCIS: Hawaii. The series remains on the bubble, but there are high chances that it will be renewed. ven if it isn't renewed, there is NCS: Sydney, which has been renewed.

We also know that another NCIS series has been greenlit. NCIS: Origins has been picked up straight to series, which could put three shows in the franchise on during the fall 2024 season. The question now is whether all three shows could end up on the same night.

CBS has the opportunity for NCIS Mondays

Franchise nights are proving to be successful across various networks. Look at the success of TGIT Thursday on ABC when Station 19 led into Grey’s Anatomy and let’s not forget that CBS already has success with FBI Tuesdays. Then there’s One Chicago Wednesdays and Law & Order Thursdays on NBC.

It makes sense for networks to put on a whole night of a franchise. People are going to keep watching all the various shows, and it makes crossovers a little easier to deal with and watch. Of course, crossovers can work when the shows aren’t on the same night. We did see the three-way crossover event between NCIS, Hawaii, and Los Angeles work. It’s just much easier when all the shows are on the same night.

CBS has an opening for NCIS Mondays with Bob Hearts Abishola and Young Sheldon both coming to an end. The Neighborhood could move to Thursdays at Ghosts, opening the 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot for NCIS. That could follow into the prequel series before finishing with Hawaii remaining in its 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot. Origins could start off the night. It's not normal for a new series to kick off three hours of programming, but I doubt this prequel series will fail considering the interest in it already.

This would depend on comedies that are picked up to series, of course. CBS is sure to move Ghosts into the earlier timeslot on Thursdays, and that could help gain viewers for a new comedy series afterward. The Neighborhood offers a strong start to Mondays, allowing for a new comedy series to air afterward. However, comedies haven’t been faring as well on TV in recent years, and networks could end up choosing more dramas instead.

If all three NCIS shows are on the air in fall 2024, CBS will miss a mark not opting for Mondays nights for the franchise.
