Chicago PD isn't back in June 2024, but it will return in the fall

In some good news, Chicago PD is coming back with new episodes. Those episodes won’t air in June 2024, though.

Of course, we didn’t expect a June 2024 release for new episodes. The networks take some time off from big shows in the summer months. People go away or they are out on an evening, so the networks don’t want to risk the linear ratings. This is the time of year for reality shows.

Now eyes are on when the shows will return. Are we waiting until the midseason like we had to do during the 2023–2024 season?

Chicago PD Season 12 will premiere in fall 2024

There isn’t going to be a wait. The wait last year was linked to the strike action in the summer. Shows weren’t ready for a fall start. NBC managed to get some of its shows back in January, but other networks waited until February and March.

NBC has set the fall schedule, and Chicago PD is on the list. We’ll see the series return on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, following a night of the other One Chicago shows, which isn’t all that surprising. Why would NBC change a night that is working?

There aren’t any premiere dates set just yet. None of the broadcast networks have set premiere dates, and that’s not likely to happen until July. We can take a look at previous falls to get an idea as to when NBC could bring the show back. We’re likely looking at Wednesday, Sept. 18 or Wednesday, Sept. 23. NBC tends to bring shows back toward the end of September, sometimes just before the fall equinox.

This season will need to pick up with the introduction of the new team member. We didn’t get to find out who Voight wants on his team with Upton’s exit at the end of the season, but there are a lot of suspicions that it will be Petrovic considering how much she stepped into storylines toward the end of the previous season.
