Chicago PD has had a couple of weeks off for scheduling reasons. Now the series is back, and we go into a dangerous case. This could be the team’s most dangerous case ever.

It looks like we could potentially get a crossover with Law & Order: SVU. If not, then there will hopefully be some sort of mention of Olivia Benson and her team. There is a mention of SVU in the synopsis.

Chicago PD 11x07 promo

The promo gives us an idea of what to expect with the case. This is a dangerous one as it involves a serial killer. It’s rare that Intelligence has to deal with a serial killer. We’ve seen a lot of drug kingpins and gang warfare. Well, now it’s time to tackle a major problem.

There are a few shows working on cases involving serial killers right now. SWAT is also going to tackle one this week. Is there something in the air? It’s funny how TV show writers tend to come up with similar ideas around the same time.

Chicago PD 11x07 synopsis

The synopsis makes it clear that this episode is a little more Voight-focused. It’s about time. We’ve seen a lot of focus on other characters recently, but it’s been a while since we’ve had one that is Voight-focused. Of course, Voight comes up in all episodes considering how close he is to his team and how he will do what he can to protect them. This is two Voight-focused episodes in a row, though.

The synopsis is interesting, though, as it notes that an SVU detective comes in to help with the case. We don’t know who it is or whether it means a Law & Order: SVU crossover. We have seen a crossover between the two shows in the past. This was what led to Erin Lindsay’s exit from the series. All the Dick Wolf shows are in the same universe.

"An ongoing case hits close to home for Voight as Intelligence teams up with an SVU detective to track down a prolific offender."
