With the exit of Luke Kleintank, the Fly Team needs a new leader in FBI: International Season 4. Could Colin Donnell return to take that spot?

Donnell joined the series in a two-episode storyline at the end of Season 3. He took on the role of NSA Agent Brian Lange, who initially came in to deal with a case that involved a threat to national security. He stuck around to help the Fly Team locate their missing leader, Forrester.

Of course, Lange needed to take control of the situation. He and Vo worked together, and it was a good thing Vo and the Fly Team were working the case. They realized immediately that something was going on because Forrester’s mom wasn’t actually Forrester’s mom! Vo knew that right away.

Lange ended up allowing Forrester to get away. Working with the Fly Team and learning more about Forrester made it clear to him that the right thing to do was to allow Forrester and his actual mom to get away.

Will Colin Donnell return in FBI: International Season 4?

We did wonder if the final moments of the Season 3 finale would set the tone for Lange to join the team as the new leader. That didn’t happen. Instead, it looked like Lange was ready to go back to his old job.

However, we’ve seen something like this happen before. We’ve seen it where the agent from another government organization has ended up coming back into the story. Just look at how Alden Parker went from FBI agent to taking over as Agent in Charge in NCIS.

Could we see Donnell return in FBI: International Season 4? He hasn’t said yes or no to this question anywhere. The lack of confirmation hints that he could certainly make a return. It could be written as a surprise for fans.

There are some fans who would love to see Vo take over as the Fly Team leader, though. She is on the greener side when it comes to leading the team, but she has less baggage than Lange and she already has the rapport with all team members. Someone at the top of FBI may not think that she’s ready as a leader just yet, but that Forrester was right in making her second-in-command, bringing Lange in to nurture her further. The two did work well together in the hunt for Forrester.

The show seems to have set up a bigger storyline for Lange should Donnell agree to come into the series. Alternatively, it could have just been a fun guest spot, with a new team member joining the Fly Team in Season 4.
