All the crime dramas we're expecting back on ABC in the 2024–2025 season

ABC is still working through the list of shows to cancel and renew. Here are the crime dramas we know will be back on the network.

ABC doesn’t have a lot of crime dramas to watch. However, the ones it does have, we love.

There are still a few shows on the bubble. The good news is that none of them are crime dramas. We know the fates of the ones that we watch, so we know what’s coming back in 2024–2025.

What about new crime dramas on the network? Will there be any next fall? Here’s a look at what we know so far.

Crime dramas returning to ABC in the 2024–2025 season

In some great news, the two crime dramas on the network are both renewed.

Will Trent quickly landed a renewal. That wasn’t surprising when you consider how the linear ratings grew with its move to the 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot on Tuesdays. It’s clear that this is a strong timeslot, and we do hope to see the series remain there for the next season. It deserves this chance.

The Rookie has been renewed for Season 7. This show took a little longer to snag a renewal, and that is potentially due to cast contracts coming up for renewal. Most shows tend to lock stars into a six-season contract to start. That means the seventh season tends to be a little rockier. ABC never did say what the hold-up for this series was, though, so we’re just speculating about it. At least we know the series is renewed.

911 does get a special mention. While this is a first-responder drama, there is a crime storyline to it every now and then. After being saved from Fox’s cancellation in May 2023, the series quickly landed a renewal for an eighth season. In fact, it was the first drama on ABC to score a renewal.

New crime dramas coming to ABC next season

What about new shows? A lot of networks have opted not to do the traditional pilot season this year. CBS has ordered a lot of shows straight to season, while Fox doesn’t even seem to have pilots.

What about ABC? There are no crime drama pilots right now, but there is one new show on the list arriving next season. This one was originally planned for the 2023–2024 season but the strike action pushed it to fall 2024 at the earliest. It’s all about High Potential.

Based on the French drama series HIP, the series will star Kaitlin Olsen. It was the only pilot from May 2023 that ABC picked up! It follows Morgan, a single mom of three kids who helps to solve what are considered unsolvable crimes. It all starts when she solves one just because she rearranges the evidence while she works as a cleaner for the police department. Sometimes, things just need to be put in the right order! Detective Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata, sees her skills and decides to bring her in to consult on the cases.
