All the crime dramas coming to BritBox in September 2024

We have to wait until the end of September for our favorite broadcast crime dramas to return. BritBox won’t make us wait that long. There are new releases happening this week!

BritBox is the best home for British crime dramas. They get gritty and dark, making it clear that nobody is safe. There are also some great, quirky options available if you prefer something light, a little like Agatha Christie’s stories.

Trigger Point, Des, and more

If you’re interested in true crime and you love David Tennant, you’ll want to check out the series Des. This follows the infamous Dennis Nilsen, the man known as the “kindly killer,” who spent five years murdering boys and men he found on Soho’s streets. He would meet and befriend them, before taking them to his home and killing them.

The three-part series takes viewers through the start of the investigation into missing people, leading to a five-year hunt for Nilsen. By the time he was caught in 1983, he had killed 15 men and boys, and he became the most prolific serial killer at the time.

If you would like to keep things a little more fictional, Trigger Point Season 2 premieres on Thursday, Sept. 5. Two episodes will drop each week, taking us through a new case for Lana Washington to solve. She’s back after six months away to deal with the events from the first season, and she walks straight into a new terrorist threat. This one could turn even more dangerous than the first season’s case!

Later on in the month, The Bay Season 5 drops on BritBox. This season, Morecambe’s MIU team has a new case to solve. It involves 23-year-old Hannah, who is found dead on the edge of the docks. The stakes are high, and the student community is angry. However, it turns out that Hannah may not have been everything she said she was.
