Is Criminal Minds: Evolution finally setting up for Luke and Garcia to get together?

Criminal Minds: Evolution continued the friendship of Luke and Garcia in style. However, it’s clear there is something more, and now we want to see it happen.

In the most recent episode, Voit could sense that things were tense between Garcia and Luke. Throughout the trip on the jet, he wound the two up and got to the bottom of it. He knows that Garcia and Tyler had a thing, and he has worked out why Luke is so tense.

Sure enough Luke is interested in Garcia. He is also highly protective of her as a friend and not just as a love interest. That doesn’t mean that he can put his feelings to one side when it comes to anyone treating Garcia wrong.

Will Garcia finally let things happen in Criminal Minds: Evolution?

Garcia is also interested in Luke. That’s not surprising. The two of them have such a great bond. It’s all about trust and mutual respect for everything that they bring to the BAU.

The two did try a relationship, in fact. We found out that between Criminal Minds Season 15 and Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 1 that the two tried a relationship but it couldn’t work. Things would be too tricky for the two of them, and Garcia decided to move on with Tyler.

That doesn’t mean all the feelings just disappear between them. With Luke’s recent reactions toward Tyler and then when Voit taunted him, it’s clear that he still wants to be with Garcia. He respects her enough to understand why the breakup had to happen, but he still wants to be with her.

Right now, Garcia is trying to get over her feelings for Tyler. She wants to forget about him, and maybe opening herself up to something with Luke is the way to do that.

With a third season confirmed, it’s likely that we won’t see anything between Luke and Garcia happen just yet. There is hope, though. Let’s see it happen in Season 3. This could be a great way to bring Morgan into the story again. Erica Messer has already said it will take a personal storyline for something like that to happen, and Morgan convincing Garcia to give Luke a chance romantically is one of those great ways.
