Daniela Ruah shares who the 'much wiser' agent may have been in NCIS: Hawaii

We finally got to see some screen time between Sam Hana and Kate Whistler in NCIS: Hawaii. That brought some excellent memories, but we have a question about the “much wiser” agent.

Hana offers some advice to Kate during the episode. She is still trying to find her footing in her work, and she’s not afraid to take advice from those who are much seasoned in her line of work. The best thing about Sam is that he wants others to succeed. He’s an excellent mentor, and he encouraged Kate to listen to her gut and get creative.

While offering advice, he shared that an agent “much wiser” than him gave him some advice. The problem is TVLine couldn’t place where the advice came from. The publication turned to Daniela Ruah, the director for the episode and an NCIS: Los Angeles vet, for some answers.

Did Hetty give the advice Sam shares in NCIS: Hawaii?

Ruah shared that she doesn’t actually know where the quote came from. I’ve Googled the quote as well, and I’ve come up short. It’s possible that it was never actually used in the series, but it’s also possible that it’s just one of those lines that hasn’t been shared online. Of course, it could also be from a deleted scene.

Ruah believes that it was likely Hetty who shared the advice. There is one from Gibbs, but that this one particularly probably came from Hetty. That makes a lot of sense considering Sam’s relationship with Hetty. He has always looked up to her, and he’s taken her advice.

We’re still waiting for an NCIS: Los Angeles movie or a miniseries spin-off to see the team put together to save Hetty complete their mission.

I guess where the quote in NCIS: Hawaii actually came from doesn’t really matter. It’s about the heart of the quote. And who better than Hetty to offer those words of advice?
