CBS isn't airing a new episode of Elsbeth tonight, but we know when it will return (March 21)

We are more than ready to see more of Elsbeth in New York. There’s some bad news, though. Elsbeth remains on a break on CBS.

We’re still questioning CBS’s decision to premiere The Good Wife spin-off series back in February. The show is taking the whole of March off, and it seems a little shortsighted. The only thing that helps this series is the fact that fans already know Elsbeth’s character from the flagship series.

However, this week’s break isn’t just for Elsbeth. The entire Thursday night lineup is off on CBS, and it’s all due to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships. Yes, March Madness is in full swing right now.

Other networks aren’t taking time off this year during March Madness. We’ll see Grey’s Anatomy, 911, and the Law & Orders all still run as normal. It looks like they’re willing to take a risk, as usually, we see networks taking time off during March Madness due to the linear ratings taking a hit.

When will Elsbeth return with new episodes?

The good news is we know when the series will be back. CBS made it clear from the start that the show would return on Thursday, April 4. Yes, it means the whole of March off, but once the show is back, there shouldn’t be a need for another break in the schedule. There will be enough episodes to run through to May, when the finales are still sure to air on network TV.

When the series does return, we’re not just getting one episode, either. We will have two episodes back-to-back. So Help Me Todd is taking a night off that week, so fans will be able to see Elsbeth Tascioni back in action, as she takes on individual cases while taking on the main case she was sent to New York for.

Elsbeth will return with new episodes on Thursday, April 4 at 9/8c on CBS.
