We'll find out why Elsbeth left Chicago during Season 2
People don’t usually do things on a whim. There’s always some sort of underlying reason, and that’s the case for Elsbeth. She didn’t just move to New York for her mission in the first season. There’s another reason behind her move.
Elsbeth Season 2 promises to delve into what that reason is. It means that we’ll get some more of The Good Wife connection. What would make her move thousands of miles away? Why would she leave everything she knew behind?
Elsbeth doesn’t want to think about the past in Season 2
According to EP Michelle King, our titular character hasn’t wanted to think too much about the past. She hasn’t focused on why she chose to leave Chicago and take on the case to uncover whether Wagner was a dirty cop.
"It’s things that maybe she hasn’t wanted to think about too much, but they catch up."
This usually means that there’s some dark secret. Elsbeth likely didn’t do anything “wrong,” but she may have made a questionable choice. While she is someone who acts on a whim now and then, the idea of her moving to New York on a whim is out there, even forher.
New serialized elements coming in Elsbeth Season 2
On top of that, we’ll get some new serialized elements in the second season. The Wagner investigation is now wrapped up. It turns out he wasn’t as dirty as Elsbeth and other feared. Now the two and Kaya can work together on matters (although it won’t be a straightforward road), and it will be fun to do. It will also mean more from each of theirs pasts will come out.
It’s not just Elsbeth who has something from her past come up. Both Wagner and Kaya will be forced to face something that happened “before the season began.”
Elsbeth Season 2 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 10/9c on CBS.
