The end of one season brings questions about another. The great thing about Blue Lights being a British series is that renewal and cancellation news is usually out before the episodes air in North America.

You can now watch the Blue Lights Season 2 finale on BritBox. The two episodes dropped today, Thursday, June 27. Don’t worry; we’re not spoiling anything in this post. We won’t tell you what happens to your favorite characters, although there will be a few hints of what doesn’t happen (in terms of deaths) based on who will return.

And yes, who will return. There’s great news about Blue Lights.

Blue Lights has been renewed for two more seasons

We will definitely have more of our rookie Belfast cops. Not only has BBC renewed Blue Lights for Season 3, but it’s also renewed the show for Season 4.

Den of Geek says that the third season will have six episodes again. We can likely see Season 4 having the same number. This is in line with other UK shows. British shows don’t tend to do a lot of the “case of the week” format that the U.S. shows do, keeping the storylines more contained to a season.

When will Blue Lights Season 3 premiere?

Now for the bad news. We have a wait on our hands. While it only took a year between Seasons 1 and 2, the same can’t be said for Season 3.

Siân Brooke, who plays Grace in the series, explained that the production team needs more time to get everything ready. It’s possible that filming won’t even start until January 2025, ruling out a spring 2025 release date. That doesn’t rule out a 2025 release date, though. We could see it in fall 2025.

"It’s maybe a bit later [than last series] actually. For the turnaround, for them to get all their ducks in a row. I think it’ll be January time."

Filming for Season 2 started in August 2023, and the release in the UK happened in April 2024. So, that could realistically mean a September 2025 date based on filming starting up in January. What about BritBox? Well, Season 2 came out two months later so we could see November 2025 as a release date.
