High Potential quickly makes it clear there's something suspicious about Ramon

During the series premiere of High Potential, we learned Ava's dad Ramon disappeared when out buying groceries. The second episode quickly made it clear something suspicious is going on.

It hasn’t taken long for High Potential  to delve into the mystery of Ramon. After Morgan went to Selena for help finding out what happened to him 15 years ago, Selena quickly came back with an answer.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for High Potential Season 1, Episode 2

While most of the episode did focus on the case, there were some quiet moments between Morgan and Ava. All Morgan wants to do is help Ava find something good in her life. After finding out about her art, Morgan quickly realizes that the talent comes from her dad.

That’s not what Ava wants to learn at first, but by the end of the episode, it looks like things are going to change. There is something suspicious about Ramon’s disappearance.

Selena finds Ramon’s car in High Potential

At the end of the episode, Selena comes to Morgan’s door with some news. Ramon’s car was found days after his disappearance. It was found in an impound lot, but it’s not where it was found that was important. It was the items found inside it.

There were diapers. The things that Ramon had gone out for 15 years ago. Why would there be diapers in there if he was going to run away? Wouldn’t he just leave? He wouldn’t return to drop the diapers off and then leave again. That doesn’t make sense.

Morgan is relieved in the sense that someone finally believes her. Selena knows now that this isn’t some deadbeat dad on the run. Something happened to him, and it’s time to do some more digging. If only police had thought about this when it really happened.

Ava overheard everything without Morgan and Selena knowing. She was on the couch, and we ended the episode with a focus on the tears running down her face. She now knows that her dad didn’t just skip town. Will this be a turning point for her? Could it lead to her taking risks as she joins in the hunt for her dad?  There is plenty to come in this storyline.

Of course, now the question is now is what happened to Ramon? If he didn’t run away, what was he involved in that caught up to him? That seems like the likely storyline for High Potential.
