Is Alex safe in Snowpiercer after that sudden and shocking turn of events?
As we close in on the final episodes of Snowpiercer, the stakes grow ever higher. Real intensions are revealed, and lives are put on the line.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 7
Snowpiercer season 4, Episode 7 ended in ways that we didn’t quite expect. Milius was never in charge. And arguably, neither was Wilford. It turns out that Nima was in charge all along, and now he has a chance to carry out his mission.
Melanie doesn’t want the mission to go ahead, knowing that more data is needed. She sent Alex ahead to the engine to take over, and we didn’t get to see what happened to her after Melanie was gassed and Layton was left in the cold.
Is Alex okay? She continually proves that she is the smartest person in the room, but has she now fallen into a trap?
Alex is sure to act out of survival in Snowpiercer
Alex has been able to make it look like she’s loyal to people in the past. This could allow her to remain safe for the time being.
Nima has only just gassed Melanie, so to start with, we’ll probably see Alex get to the engine. It’s when Nima arrives that things could take a bad turn. With Alex and Melanie separated again, Nima will want to carry out his plan and he may want to get Alex on his side. After all, he’s going to need an Engineer for the train.
Could Alex put the world before New Eden in Snowpiercer?
There’s no point in Nima keeping everything a secret from Alex. The way she cares about science and research, he has likely worked out that she will look at things without emotion. That means putting science before her friendships.
Alex has been manipulated in the past. While she is smart and she thinks ahead, she doesn’t always see it when people play with her wishes and her needs. So, we could see Alex manipulated into saving the world rather than helping the people of New Eden.
Of course, she could also play Nima at his own game. By knowing the plan, she could get a message to New Eden to warn them as they get closer.
For now, Alex is safe, but for how long remains to be seen in Snowpiercer.
