No, Jason Beghe isn't leaving Chicago PD despite not being in the May 1 episode
Jason Beghe wasn’t in Chicago PD Season 11, Episode 10. That doesn’t mean Voight is leaving Intelligence. He will be back in the next new episode.
It’s not common for Voight not to be in an episode of Chicago PD, so it is understandably why some fans worried. However, we were warned about characters being away from episodes now and then before going into this season.
Despite the shortened season due to the strike action, it doesn’t look like plans to take characters out now and then changed. That include Intelligence’s leader.
Why wasn’t Jason Beghe in Chicago PD Season 11, Episode 10?
The lack of Voight had nothing to do with the character leaving. When NBC initially renewed the One Chicago and Law & Order shows for the 2023–2024 season, it was with the caveat that not all actors would appear in every episode. This was a way to cut the costs of the series. The only two shows not affected would be Law & Order: Organized Crime because of its half-season and Law & Order: SVU where Olivia Benson would still be in every episode.
So, we knew that there was a chance Voight, played by Jason Veghe, wouldn’t be in Chicago PD at some point. Some characters have missed multiple episodes. Just look at how much fans worried about the loss of Torres when he wasn’t in the first three episodes of the season. Voight has only missed one episode of the season so far.
When will Voight return in Chicago PD?
The good news is Voight will be back soon. He does pop up in the promo for Chicago PD Season 11, Episode 11.
This is an Atwater-centric episode. There has been a string of violent robberies, and Atwater’s CI from the past resurfaces with information. He shares that by jumping into the back of Atwater’s car, telling him to drive so he’s not seen with Atwater.
However, it looks like Atwater is going to end up distracted on a past case. Voight will need to help kep Atwater focused on the robberies.
