Joan lands an October premiere date on The CW
The fall promises us some new crime dramas on broadcast networks. The CW confirmed that Joan starring Sophie Turner would be one of the fall shows, and now we have a premiere date.
The CW is the first of the Big 5 networks to release premiere dates for fall 2024. It’s also the network that traditionally brings fall premieres later into the season. At least we have a light at the end of some tunnels, and we know that the fall is set to begin as normal this year.
When will Joan premiere on The CW?
The six-part miniseries will premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 2. It will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT, straight after the season premiere of Sullivan’s Crossing.
Yes, there are only six episodes to this series. That means it will be over long before the winter break starts. The CW will have space for much more—although we all wonder what this schedule will look like with all the recent cancellations.
What is Joan about?
Sophie Turner stars as Joan Hannington, a woman in her ‘20s. Set in the 1980s, it follows her as she ends up trapped in a disastrous and violent marriage. All she wants to do is look after her six-year-old daughter Kelly, but that’s thrown into disarray when her violent husband, Gary, goes on the run.
Joan decides this is the perfect time to escape, and so she heads out with new identities for her and Kelly. Along the way, she becomes a masterful jewel thief. How long can this new dream last? Will she ever get the secure home that she dreams of having?
Yes, this is based on true events, making it true crime as well as a crime drama. This is one you’ll want to tune into each week as we kick off the fall.
Joan premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 9/8c on The CW.
