The CW has opted not to keep Walker going. The Jared Padalecki series is coming to an end after four seasons, which isn’t all that surprising considering recent reports.

In the past, the idea of Walker being canceled right now would have been shocking. The CW had a habit of giving shows strong runs to get them to the point of syndication once they had a successful first season. A show with Padalecki in the lead was sure to be a success.

Things have changed since Nexstar took over the network. We’ve seen a lot of shows come to an end, including the likes of Nancy Drew and Kung Fu. Now Walker is one to add to the list. It was one of three pre-Nexstar shows left, and it looks like it won’t be the only one canceled. All American: Homecoming is also looking to head the cancellation route.

What are the chances of Walker being saved?

It doesn’t look like the series is being renewed. As we’d previously shared, the sets for the series were being pulled down. This was a sign that the series was coming to an end. It would mean rebuilding sets if another network or a streamer picked up the series, which would lead to a higher cost to pick up.

The stars don’t seem to be fighting this either. Padalecki took to Instagram to share the news of the cancellation, sharing that it was with a “heavy heart.” He didn’t talk about fighting to save the series. Just last year, we watched as his former Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles put up a fight to save The Winchesters from being canceled. Ackles was immediately vocal, while Padalecki seems to have accepted the decision.

Of course, now the door is open for Padalecki to head over to The Boys. He did mention that he’d be interested in team up with former Supernatural creator Eric Kripke again. Maybe we could find a way for a Supernatural reunion considering how many former cast members are or have been on that series!

The Walker Season 4 finale, which is now the series finale, will air on Wednesday, June 26. It does sound like the writers thought a cancellation may be on the cards so have written something with a satisfying ending. Let’s hope so!
