Law & Order: Organized Crime will likely see a viewing age increase
As the networks looked at their schedules back in May, it was clear not everything could make it through to another season. That didn’t mean every show needed to be canceled, though. Law & Order: Organized Crime ended up moving to Peacock for its fifth season.
There isn’t a release date for this just yet. All we know is that Peacock will air the episodes, rather than the show getting a linear outing.
With this in mind, we’re looking at something similar to Criminal Minds happening. There’s a high chance that the age rating for the series is going to go up.
Law & Order: Organized Crime may become a TV-MA rated series
Due to it being on broadcast, Law & Order: Organized Crime currently has a TV-14 age rating. This limits the language and the level of violence allowed on the shows. NBC is one of the networks that allows slightly more adult content compared to the likes of Fox, but it still doesn’t allow swearing and excessive violence.
Of course, Law & Order: Organized Crime is a series that focuses on gangs and drug lords. It’s a show that would work well with slightly more adult material due to the natural of organized crime in the real world. This is similar to Criminal Minds, which has arguably felt closer to the real thing since the revival moved to Paramount+ and got its TV-MA rating.
So, with that in mind, we’re potentially going to see Law & Order: Organized Crime get darker and grittier. There’s a chance that there will be more harsh language and swearing, and the violence and gore may be on the more graphic side of things.
Peacock hasn’t confirmed this yet. It does have some TV-14 material, such as One of Us Is Lying, but it has also brought some adult content when it comes to crime shows. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on things as we get more information about the Law & Order spin-off.
