The Law & Order shows aren't new in June 2024 (When will they return?)
We would love to jump back into the world of Law & Order. The bad news is that isn’t happening just yet. There are no new episodes of the three shows in the franchise coming in June 2024.
This shouldn’t be that surprising to fans. NBC doesn’t opt for episodes of big shows in the summer months. This summer is especially different as it’s another Olympic year, and NBC has the rights to that coverage throughout the summer.
All three shows are renewed, but there’s bad news for Law & Order: Organized Crime fans. The series won’t air on NBC when it returns. That series is moving to Peacock. So, what can we expect for the returns?
Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU are back in the fall
The two other shows are coming back to NBC, and they are both coming back in the fall. The revived Law & Order series will air first on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT. SVU will then return at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The last timeslot of Thursday nights will be taken over by Found.
NBC hasn’t set any premiere dates just yet. That’s normal for this time of year. We’re not really expecting premiere dates until July. We can take a guess, though.
The fall officially starts on Sept. 21, and we know NBC likes to start shows up as close to the fall equinox as possible. That would suggest that we’ll see Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU return around Thursday, Sept. 26. I could see NBC opting to bring the shows back a week earlier, hitting closer to the equinox.
Law & Order: Organized Crime could be held longer
It’s not clear when Peacock will bring back Law & Order: Organized Crime. The streamer tends to have its schedule planned out months in advance. It’s probably already locked in some fall shows, and the streamer will want to space out bigger content.
With this in mind, we could end up waiting until 2025 for new episodes. This would make sense to produce all episodes at once. They’ll need to be ready in case Peacock chooses to do a binge-watch release. It’s hard to call with this streamer as it isn’t consistent with release models.
