Olivia Benson has clashed with a lot of tough fathers on Law & Order: SVU. Now she has to handle her boss on the warpath. See a peek at this powerful episode of Law & Order: SVU Season 25, Episode 4 here.
It's no secret to Law & Order: SVU fans that Benson and Chief of Detectives Tommy McGrath (Terry Serpico) aren't friends. Benson has disliked McGrath ever since he took over the SVU unit after Garland left in Season 23. The man often seems too impulsive and more concerned about his political standing than solving cases.
In fairness, McGrath has acknowledged problems with his temper and slowly comes around to empathizing with the victims. He's even gone to bat for the SVU team in some cases and does care about solving crimes.
What to expect in Law & Order: SVU Season 25, Episode 4
This is going to come up big time in Season 25, Episode 4, "Duty to Report," as Benson learns the newest victim reporting an assault happens to be McGrath's daughter. Naturally, McGrath is determined to find out who did this to his little girl and Benson may not be able to stop him.
"When Chief McGrath's daughter discloses a sexual assault, Benson must balance the intricacies of the investigation with McGrath's impulsive actions."
Benson has had to handle fathers in the past trying to get justice on their own terms. But having it be her boss is something else. While technically McGrath can't be part of the investigation, he's sure to be hunting who attacked his daughter and given his hot temper, there's a chance he may put a beatdown (or worse) on the wrong guy.
That's without the usual twists and turns of an SVU investigation, as the key to this episode is going to be Benson vs her boss, which promises an epic showdown.
Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC and streams on Peacock the following day.
