Were Layton and Josie saved in Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 8?

Things were not looking good for Layton, Josie, and Liana in Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 8 as the episode started. How did it all play out, and are they all still alive?

The episode picked up off the back of the Episode 7 ending. Layton, Josie, and Liana were trapped in a stationary Snowpiercer car thanks to Wilford’s deviousness. It looked like Layton would succumb to freezing in the car as his attempt to radio for help failed.

Josie and Liana have been through the Headwoods’ cold therapy, which does mean they can survive for a little longer. However, they would need to get somewhere for help eventually. That was until someone in an Animal Squad suit turned up.

Roach saves the day in Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 8

It didn’t take long for us to see how the trio would get out of their predicament. Someone in an Animal Squad suit turned up, and we initially thought it was one of Milius’s men. However, Roach revealed himself as underneath the mask.

Roach had a snowcat. They could get Layton into is and head to New Eden. It was just in the nick of time, as it did look like Layton was going to die from hypothermia at one point.

With everyone back in New Eden, it was time to put the focus on protecting the town from Nima and his Animal Squad. At least with Layton and Josie learning that Nima froze the world, they have an idea of what’s to come. They can’t trust him at all.

How did Roach survive in Snowpiercer?

Of course, there was a big question about what happened to Roach. The last we saw, he had disappeared on a mountainside in the middle of a storm with Oz.

It took three attempts to get the story, and when we did get that story, it’s hard to tell what Roach made up to rally the troops and what was true. The idea that he found a radio and a snowcat does stand true, though. After all, how else would he have ended up with both to be able to save Layton, Josie, and Liana?

I don’t think the Animal Squad turned Roach. I just think he was lucky enough to land a suit and get away. He happened to be in the right place at the right time to save Layton, Josie, and Liana. Maybe let’s not overthink it all.
