Lindsey Morgan explains why she needed to step away from Walker
Lindsey Morgan was adored by the Walker fans, and we couldn’t quite see the series without Micki. However, Morgan chose to leave the series for “personal reasons.”
At the time, it looked like it could be that she was ready for something new or that she felt like she had gone as far as she could with Micki. That wasn’t the case, though. Morgan has now opened up about her reason for leaving the series, and it’s heartbreaking for her.
Lindsey Morgan suffered a spinal injury causing her to leave Walker
Morgan didn’t actually want to say goodbye to Micki and the series. This was a role she had been manifesting for herself. She came straight off the back of The 100 and stepped into the lead female role in the new CW series.
That was her mistake, she now admits. She should have taken some time off.
According to TVLine, Morgan says that she was anxious all the time. Her body and her mind were stressed, and she doesn’t believe that she put out her best work.
"I feel like I did not do good work. And looking back on it now, it was because I was so stressed out in my body — mentally and physically. I was a mess. I couldn’t figure out why. I have all of this responsibility on my shoulders, and I felt like I was failing everyone — and myself."
However, it wasn’t just that. She had a spinal injury, which was affecting her nervous system and brainstem. She needed to step away from the series if she wanted to look after her body, but her mind didn’t want her to do that at first. She had her dream role.
Lindsey Morgan had two choices, but only one good for her health
Like with anything, Morgan had a choice. Her doctors could have given her medication to allow her to keep working, but everyone knew that wasn’t going to be the best option.
The only other option was the leave the series she loved. She felt like she was letting everyone down when she did this, but she knew, deep down, that she had to put her health first. She needed to minimize the stress on her body.
We all only have one life. We need to do what’s right for our health—mentally and physically. As much as Morgan feels like she let Walker down, she really didn’t. We support her!
