Can Melanie save her friends in Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 2?

Melanie had a choice to make in Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 2. Would she hand herself over to the Animal Squad, or would she allow the passengers of Snowpiercer die?

The episode picked up off the back of the premiere with Miss Audrey sharing her story of the events nine months earlier. We saw why the Animal Squad took over the train, finding out that they were ordered not to kill Melanie. They were also not supposed to harm the passengers of the train.

However, Milius needed to get Melanie to come to him. The best way to do that was to lock 100 passengers into the Market cart and shoot a hole into the ceiling. While Till was able to block the hole, it only gave them a little extra time.

That actually gave Melanie the time she needed. No, she didn’t hand herself over, but she did get in to save her friends.

Melanie found another way into the engine in Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 2

During the episode, the Animal Squad took over the Engine Room. They needed to divert the train on another path, which turned out to be a hastily built track that took everyone underground. It turns out that the Animal Squad was the military part of a research team, and that team was responsible for the warmer pockets that led to New Eden being possible.

The researchers, who I believe may be led by Alex’s father, but we don’t get that confirmation in the episode, want to use Snowpiercer to release more chemicals to create other warm spots. This should then create a spiderweb of warm spots that connect with each other and make the planet liveable again.

We know that everyone could have gone about this better. Of course, that would mean no drama in this episode.

After all, this episode saw Melanie realize that she couldn’t just hand herself over. She went outside the train to the intake compartments. This meant that the cold would go into the Engine Room, making it less liveable for Milius and the guard he had in there. She was then able to unlock the Market doors, allowing everyone in there—which included Miles, Till, and Audrey—to escape.

What happened to Miss Audrey in Snowpiercer?

The end of the episode brought up events nine months later. It turns out that the Animal Squad still has their own agenda. After Melanie agreed to release the chemicals to warm up the Earth, we find out that Milius wants to take down New Eden. Why? Well, that remains to be seen.

Ben, Till, and Audrey were working together to get Till into the supply cart to New Eden to warn them. A fight brought out, and Audrey was forced to get into the cart instead, which is how she ends up in New Eden.

What happened to Miss Audrey’s face, though? That has something to do with the black gas that is released from the Animal Squad when their suits are hit. What is going on with this group, and will Miss Audrey survive?
