Has Miss Audrey been poisoned by the black gas in Snowpiercer?

When Miss Audrey turned up in the supply cart at New Eden in the Snowpiercer Season 4 premiere, we feared the worst. What type of torture had happened in the nine months of New Eden being set up? Well, it turns out that it wasn’t quite torture after all.

We initially worried that Milius and his Animal Squad had taken over the train and tortured people. There was the fear that they were acting on Wilford’s behind. That wasn’t the case, though. Instead, Snowpiercer is being asked to take on a special mission that could help to make the planet liveable again.

However, nine months later, things aren’t working out as planned. We find out that Till, Ben, and Miss Audrey are part of the mission to get the supply cart to New Eden to warn them. It didn’t quite go to plan, and now Miss Audrey is in New Eden but with some serious marks on her face and it looks like she could be dying.

What is in the black gas in Snowpiercer?

As Miss Audrey tried to fight off one of the Animal Squad, the member of the Animal Squad’s suit was damaged and some black gas came out. We saw that black gas earlier in the episode, as well.

It’s not clear what this is, but it looks like this has poisoned Miss Audrey. Only Milius has taken his helmet off while being on the train. That could have suggested that the others weren’t to show their faces, but that doesn’t make sense when you consider the Animal Squad was actually meant to be there to ask Melanie for help.

So, is it possible that they can’t take their masks off? Maybe they can’t breathe in normal oxygen, and now maybe Audrey will need that black gas to survive.

It’s possible that the Animal Squad was involved in experiments while underground. We know that there was a team of scientists tasked with getting the Earth back to normal. There is a chance that they may have also been tasked with making it possible for people to survive out in the cold, but these experiments went wrong. Now they need this black gas to survive.

So while Miss Audrey may have been poisoned, it may also be a sign that she is becoming like the Animal Squad. Will she want to live that way in Snowpiercer?
