The NCIS Season 21 finale could see a team member leave. It all depends on what Knight decides to do when she’s offered a “unique” opportunity.

The synopsis made it clear that Vance had an opportunity for Knight. Of course, we wondered if that was to run her own team. What would it mean for her relationship with Palmer?

We finally got to meet Knight’s dad in a previous episode, which led to us learning about “the plan.” Knight would work her way up to eventually become the Director of NCIS. However, that plan has been on hold, and now she’s happy where she is, especially in her relationship with Palmer.

Could Knight leave NCIS in the Season 21 finale?

Rocky Carroll has told TVLine what the offer for Knight is, and things aren’t looking great for Knight and Palmer. Vance offers Knight the chance to step into her father’s former role. That is as SAC of the Far East office for NCIS.

This would have been an opportunity she wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on when she first joined the team. She didn’t have any personal connections keeping her in place, and she was focused on growing in her career. Vance sees that she has struggled with her priorities when it comes to her career, and he wants her to take this opportunity to get clear on them.

Is it Vance who wants this, though? That sounds more like something her father would want.

We can’t rule out Knight leaving. When Sean Murray talked about characters potentially leaving the series, he made it clear that we could never rule that out. He hadn’t heard of actors wanting to leave, but is Katrina Law making a move to another show? Is this a creative decision to continue shaking up the team?

What does this mean for Palmer and Knight in NCIS?

If Knight does choose to take up the offer, it spells the end for Palmer and Knight. This isn’t just her moving to the other side of the country. She is in a completely different continent. Palmer would need to put his daughter, Victoria, first, and that would mean breaking things off with the woman he loves. This sort of long distance relationship for what would be permanent for the foreseeable future just wouldn’t be plausible for his life.

The good news is we should get the answers Knight makes by the end of the finale. We’re not being left waiting until Season 22 to find out what she chooses to do.

Is anyone else rooting for her to choose Palmer over her career?
