Eyes are most definitely on what the 2024-2025 TV season is going to look like. One thing we do know is that we will definitely have more NCIS.

At the time of writing this, we know NCIS Season 22 is happening but we haven’t had word on the Hawaiian-set spin-off series. We do know that the prequel series, NCIS: Origins, has been ordered straight to series.

The most important thing for the NCISverse was making sure that the flagship series was renewed. That would mean we could look at when the series will premiere. We’re sure to see the season arriving in fall 2024.

Why NCIS Season 22 is sure to remain a fall series

NCIS has been a fall series from the beginning, and we’re not expecting that to change now. The only reason it didn’t premiere in fall 2023 was due to the strike action throughout the summer. Most of the usual fall shows were pushed to the midseason due to writing and filming delays.

We’re sure to see CBS return to a regular TV schedule for the 2024-2025 season. That puts NCIS back on in the fall. CBS wanted a regular fall season in 2023, and we saw that NCIS would air on Mondays as usual with NCIS: Hawaii following it. Why would the network change plans now?

The series continues to perform well for the network. In fact, Deadline stated that it is the No. 2 drama on TV behind CBS’s Tracker. In the same-day linear ratings, it is No. 4 in the demo for all dramas and No. 7 in the total audience. Considering it now goes up against Monday Night Football, that’s not too surprising but it’s a sign that this is a series fans still want on the air.

Strong ratings suggest a fall start. CBS will want to make sure its stronger players air at the most popular time for people watching TV as that’s when the best ad rates are for commercials.

Could we see NCIS Mondays?

While The Neighborhood has also been renewed, we know Bob Hearts Abishola is ending with its current season. So is Young Sheldon while Ghosts has been renewed. Is it possible that we could see NCIS move to the 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot on Mondays?

This would open the 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot for NCIS: Origins and then Hawaii (should it be renewed) will be able to keep the last slot on Mondays. It would be a great lineup for NCIS Mondays after seeing the success of FBI Tuesdays.
