Is a new episode of Elsbeth on CBS tonight? (March 14)

We are ready for more Elsbeth. CBS brought us a brilliant series premiere and then The Good Wife spin-off immediately went on a break. When will the show be back?

In some bad news, that return isn’t happening tonight, Thursday, March 14. The show remains on a break this week. There is a rerun of the series premiere, though. It’s a great time to catch up if you missed it and don’t have Paramount+.

It is a strange decision, though. Last week, the break was for the State of the Union Address. This week, all other Thursday shows are back but CBS is keeping this one on an extended break.

When will Elsbeth return with new episodes?

We have a bit of a wait on our hands for the return of the series, as well. It won’t be back until Thursday, April 4.

The only good news to come from that is that we will have two episodes on that night. We’ll be able to tune in at the slightly earlier time of 9 p.m. ET/PT on Thursday, April 4, suggesting that So Help Me Todd is taking a break that night.

What’s the reasoning behind the break, though? Is it that CBS wanted to take advantage of the Leap Year? That seems odd considering such a long break. The only thing that likely keeps this show in the running for a successful season is that it is a spin-off from a popular series involving one of the best characters. It already has a fanbase.

And the series did perform well in the first week. Matt Carter confirms that the series had 8.52 million viewers tuning in live. That bodes well for a renewal, but we will have to see if this break affects things negatively in a large way.

Elsbeth returns with new episodes on Thursday, April 4.
