Jessica Knight chose to put career over everything at the end of the NCIS Season 21 finale. There is a chance we’ll see her again, though.

Since Knight decided to take the chance to train the next generation of REACT teams, we got ready for news that Katrina Law was leaving NCIS. That announcement didn’t come. Instead, there are hints that Knight could make a return.

So, what can we expect should she come back? Why would she return to the team when she’s made such a huge decision in her career? Let’s take a look.

Knight could realize she made the wrong decision in NCIS Season 22

There is a chance that Knight decides that training the new REACT agents is the wrong decision. As much as she wanted this job and the advancement in her career, that doesn’t mean it is everything she expected. What if she decides that she prefers to work in the field?

There’s nothing wrong with someone deciding that the career they thought they wanted turned into something they didn’t. That’s not a failure, but a lot of people make it seem like it is. After all, going back to the team is more like a demotion, right? The problem is people need to do something that they enjoy, and we need to see that being normal on TV. Many people take inspiration from life through the actions of TV characters, so it’s important to show something like this on the screen.

We could see how Knight and Palmer’s relationship works or doesn’t

Another option is that Knight realizes that she does want to stay training the REACT team members. That means a long-distance relationship with Palmer, which is something Knight thinks is possible. Palmer doesn’t really want to do a long-distance relationship, but will he choose the chance of a relationship over nothing?

If they are together, we could see Knight pop up as they try to make things work. If they aren’t together, we could have mentions of Knight or even see her check in with Kasie to see how Palmer is doing.

They could be together to start the season. This could lead to Knight being around at first, but the two realize that they just don’t work with the distance. Eventually, we could see Law leave the series permanently through a storyline in NCIS Season 22.

We still need to wait on word of whether Law is coming back into NCIS or not. It looks like everyone wants to keep that quiet until the return in the fall.
