The 911: Lone Star season 5 opener gave us a look into where the characters were a year after we last saw them. For show fans, it was great to catch up on everyone and see what they were going through. This was especially true for Marjan Marwani and Paul Strickland.

Since Judd Ryder left the fire station and his position as lieutenant open, Captain Owen Strand had a huge decision to make. They were both preparing to take their Lieutenant’s exams, but the decision on who to choose would fall onto Owen. However, the prospect appears daunting, as he tells Judd at one point.

He is worried after having recently lost his brother that he would lose someone else differently. If he chooses one of his crew over the other, would they still want to work under him? While the decision is still up in the air, both Marjan and Paul have their strengths that allow them to be great contenders for the position.

Who will Owen choose in 911: Lone Star?

While the arc involving Marjan and Paul remains open, we wouldn’t be surprised if the show goes a different route. Either someone else will end up being chosen or Judd could eventually come back. This would be difficult, though, since he’d have to start all over from the beginning.

Based on the preview for episode 2, which will involve the train disaster that has been teased for months, Marjan and Paul may be able to further prove themselves as they deal with the accident that appears to be very catastrophic.

Will Paul and Marjan prove themselves to be made lieutenant? Or will a twist happen that will see someone else rise to the occasion? We’ll find out for sure, but first they have to deal with the train disaster that is imminent.

911: Lone Star airs Mondays on FOX at 8/7c. You can catch up on the episodes the following day on Hulu.
