Just like with every season of Criminal Minds, there is someone working against the BAU. And it’s someone clearly in the FBI. The end of Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2, Episode 3 makes it clear that someone needs Prentiss out of the equation.

Caution: There are major spoilers for Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2, Episode 3

The episode started with Luke telling Prentiss what he knew from Voit. This opened up a lot about events being posted online being tracked to one singular IP address, which belonged to Prentiss’s former neighbor Brian. Brian had suffered a breakdown during COVID, but Prentiss was sure he was harmless.

She went to meet with him to get him to stop posting things on the internet. We just knew this was going to come up, and that happened at the end of the episode.

Who is working with Voit in Criminal Minds: Evolution?

Brian called Prentiss to get her to come meet him at the end of the Criminal Minds episode. Over the phone, he told Prentiss that the Director of the FBI was working with Voit.

So, Prentiss went to the parking lot to talk to him, only to find that he wasn’t in his car anymore. He was being beaten up by two people. Prentiss made a call for an ambulance when a cop car pulled up. This led to Brian naming Prentiss as the one beating him up.

What’s funny is Prentiss seems more annoyed than scared by Brian’s accusations. She knows that Brian is lying, and she probably knows that her team will get her out of this. It does seem a little odd that the two thugs ran off and suddenly a cop car turned up. Prentiss is likely putting it all together to figure out that they all planned this.

If the Director of the FBI is behind it all—and potentially working with Gold Star—though, it means that the entire BAU is at risk. Prentiss is just part of the puzzle. This is if what Brian had said was true, though. Was it just something to get Prentiss out so that Gold Star could take Prentiss out of the equation? After all, Prentiss is focused on getting Gold Star and she’s been tracking this UnSub for two weeks without the rest of the BAU knowing. Taking her out would be important for Gold Star to fully go back underground.

What Gold Star probably isn’t counting on is Tyler being willing to do things illegally. He has a phone that he’s acquired in a not-so-legal way. What is on it, and can it help Prentiss out of her current situation?
