The beginning of Snowpiercer told us about how the world ended. At least, we think we know how it ended. It turns out that it was at the hands of one person.

When the series first began, Daveed Diggs’s Andre Layton told us the story of the end of the world. The story told was that scientists attempted to stop the damage to the ozone layer that previous toxins had caused. However, those attempts led to the big freeze.

It’s time to get more answers. It all comes in the new episode, along with a few other revelations.

Who caused the end of the world in Snowpiercer?

The synopsis tells us that Layton will learn about experiments being done on Josie and Liana. That suggests that he gets out of the basement. At the end of the previous episode, Layton and Wilford worked together to get the elevator doors open, only for Alex to turn up. We know that Nima has deactivated his wristband, which means Alex should now be trapped down there.

Of course, when you put Wilford and Alex together, they are going to put their engineering minds to work. So, they’re sure to find a way out. That leads to Layton learning some more details.

The first is about Josie and Liana. The second is about the end of the world. It turns out that one person was responsible. Realistically, there is only one person we’ve met who would have the brains and capabilities to do that—Nima. Wilford could just so that he could have his trains, but he’s an engineer and not a chemist, so it does rule him out. Of course, there’s Dr. Headwood, but she seems more interested in biological experiments.

Big Alice ends up stranded outside of New Eden in Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 7

Meanwhile, we’ll get more of the story of New Eden. Big Alice is going to make it back, but they’ll be stuck before getting in.

In the previous episode, Oz figured out that people weren’t digging graves. The Animal Squad was digging to plant bombs, with the intention of burying the town. There’s sure to be a bomb on the bridge, and it’s likely that the plan is for Big Alice to activate the bomb to kill everyone in New Eden and destroy Big Alice forever.

New Eden’s people are smart. They’re not just going to let Big Alice cross the bridge, but can they deal with the bomb without blowing it up?

Check out the synopsis:

"Layton learns who was responsible for the experiments on Josie and Liana, before also finding out who froze the world; Big Alice approaches New Eden but can't cross the boobytrapped bridge."
