Snowpiercer Season 4: Was Ruth talking about herself when it came to the people of Snowpiercer?

Ruth said she was playing Devil's advocate in the Snowpiercer Season 4 premiere. Was she actually talking about herself? Can we blame people for being resentful?

While Layton and others focus on reconnecting with Snowpiercer, Ruth played Devil’s advocate in the Snowpiercer Season 4 premiere. Layton wanted to know whether her words were just Devil’s advocate, or whether they were her thoughts.

After initially picking up with Ben and Till heading out to see where the missile was launched from, the episode jumped nine months later to New Eden. The people of Big Alice had made their new home a community. Everyone worked together to rebuild the bridge that had collapsed to get there, and find a way to sustain life.

Layton and others want to reconnect with Snowpiercer

With nine months gone, it means that Snowpiercer will be coming back around to the point where they can make a switch in the tracks. They can come to New Eden and start a new life there, knowing that the train only has a limited time to run.

However, Ruth pointed out how some people feel about that, especially as the resources to repair the bridge to get Snowpiercer in are taking away from resources to build shelter so people no longer have to live in the train cabins.

There’s resentment growing. Why should the people of Snowpiercer get to relish in the rewards of New Eden when they weren’t brave enough to take the risks.

Ruth didn’t deny they were her thoughts in the Snowpiercer Season 4 premiere

When Layton asked if they were her thoughts, Ruth didn’t really answer. She pointed out to Layton that they all have people on the train that they love and miss. There are plenty of people to think about.

However, when you really consider it, Ruth doesn’t have that many people still on the train she has a connection to. Maybe Melanie and Ben, but the rest of her chosen people followed her and Layton. They chose New Eden, and they chose the risks that it would take to create the new world.

Ruth didn’t deny that they were her thoughts. With the way she worded it and the look on her face, I’d go as far to say that they are her thoughts, especially when Layton keeps telling her that there are problems with the relay, the bridge, and more.

However, there are now more pressing matters to attend to. Audrey has suddenly turned up injured and now unconscious, Zarah has been killed, and Dr. Headwood and a stranger have taken Liana. They need to find out what happened to Snowpiercer. Did Oz actually hear that the people are dead, or is he going crazy?
