Hondo and Hicks race to save Powell in SWAT Season 7, Episode 2

The Season 7 premiere of SWAT had Hondo, Hicks, and Powell heading to Mexico City to transport a drug lord Hondo had been after for years. The man had killed a witness, and her daughter still blamed Hondo for not catching the guy before. 

The drug lord pulled an escape, leading to an epic search, but in the end, he was gunned down. That seemed the end of it, only for hints he was working with a group that had a deadly bomb. 

Powell had gotten close to a cop during the case and visited his hotel room. But Powell discovered the cop was tied in with the terrorists, and he strangled her as the episode ended. 

With such a huge cliffhanger, what's next?

SWAT 7x02 Promo

The promo for "Peace Talks" shows Hicks and Hondo racing to find Powell and stop a deadly bombing attack. It looks like it will show some great action shots on location in Mexico City to enhance the thrills. 

It's a major search to save one of their own to make the Season 7 premiere a big one. 

SWAT 7x02 Synopsis

The main plotline is, of course, Hondo and Hicks searching for Powell. Hicks may be blaming himself as he was by her hotel room but figured she and the cop were getting together, not being attacked. Hondo still feels he owes that witness's daughter to close out this case. 

It's indicated that Deacon and Tan will be helping from L.A., although it's uncertain if they'll be jetting to Mexico City or searching for leads in the city. Obviously, a team member missing is all hands on deck for the team to save Powell and stop a deadly bombing.

Thankfully, we get some lighter stuff as Deacon is set for a boxing match against Rocker and might be worried the guys think he's too old for it. We need some lighter plots to offset the action, but it's better to see how Powell is rescued. 

With a big conclusion to this two-parter, SWAT is rolling into its final season with style.

"Hondo and Hicks desperately search for Powell, who's gone missing in Mexico City along with a thermobaric bomb capable of killing thousands. And while Deacon and Tan assist from L.A., Deacon's pride gets injured in a boxing match with Rocker."

SWAT Season 7 airs Fridays at 8/7c on CBS and streams the following day on Paramount+.
